Cheeseburger Pie

In an effort to try and find something my kids would eat, I came across this recipe called: Kid's Cheeseburger Pie. It was a success.

  • 1 unbaked 9" deep-dish pie shell
  • 1 lb ground beef (lean)
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup chopped dill pickles (I actually use less if any)
  • 1/3 cup of pickle juice
  • 1/3 cup Carnation Evaporated Milk
  • 8 oz American cheese, cut into pieces and divided
  • mustard & ketchup (optional)
  1. Preheat oven to 425ºF.
  2. Cook beef and garlic powder in a large skillet, stirring frequently, until beef is no longer pink. Sprinkly with flour; stir.
  3. Stir in pickles, pickle juice, evaporated milk and half of the cheese. Spoon into pie shell.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes; top with remaining cheese. Bake for an additional 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
  5. Cool on wire rack for 5 minutes. Serve with mustard and ketchup.
