The Tupperware Sandwich
By Lisa Marie on Sep 3, 2009 in Recipes
Here's a good idea for those hot summer days when you just don't want to cook in the stove but need something yummy to eat. Or for big parties and cocktails. Or if you just want to make things more creative for meal time.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf of Square Sandwich Bread. (cut all crusts off)
- Your choice of deli meats (ham, turkey, bologna, salami, etc).
- Mayonnaise
- Toppings like: Lettuce, onions, pickles, olives, peppers and cheese
- Anything else you like on sandwiches.
You will be making 2-3 layers of all the ingredients above in the Tupperware Jel-Ring mold. Place bread slices around the bottom of the mold. Press into the grooves, corners overlapping. Layer the ingredients in order, on top of the bread. Press each layer down.
Repeat layers again, starting with the bread and pressing down each layer. Depending on the thickness of the layers, you might be able to get a 3rd layer. End with a layer of bread. Seal and refrigerate for ½ an hour. Invert onto a serving tray, cut into 20 pieces, according to raised sections of the Jel-Ring Mold.
Variations:
Substitute the mayonnaise with mustard, vinegar or dressing.
Make a veggie sandwich or reduce the calories by using low-fat meats, spreads and cheeses.
Use pizza toppings. Invert onto a cookie sheet and bake at 200C (400F) for approx 5-10 mins until golden brown. Slice and Serve.
